Report on the 6th National Scout Youth Forum
Date: 6th – 8th September 2023
Location: Gashaka Gumti National Park, Taraba State, Nigeria
Participants: 85 participants which includes the delegates and observers from 14 State Scout Councils, participants from host State Scout Councils, and guests from around the district.
Program Overview:
The 6th National Scout Youth Forum was held at the beautiful Gashaka Gumti National Park in Taraba State, Nigeria. The event, which brought together a total of 85 participants, was a resounding success, exemplifying the unity and dedication of scouts from across the country.
The program commenced with an overnight stay in Jalingo, setting the stage for the adventure that awaited us. The following day, we embarked on a road journey to the awe-inspiring Gashaka Gumti National Park.
This forum was distinguished by its focus on crucial scouting topics, reflecting the essence of non-elective forums. The five business sessions covered the following areas:
Safe from Harm
Discussion on safeguarding scouts and creating a secure environment.
Scoutpreneur
Exploring entrepreneurship within the scouting community.
Betterworld Framework
Deliberations on the framework’s implementation and impact.
WOSM Strategy Beyond 2023
Strategizing for the future of scouting on a global scale.
The Scout Association of Nigeria Youth Program
Review and enhancement of the national youth program.
These sessions were facilitated by the National Youth Advisors, supported by the National Headquarters Commissioners, and the dedicated staff of the national office.
Cultural Night and Campfire:
The event culminated in a vibrant Cultural Night and Campfire, providing an opportunity for participants to celebrate diversity and share their rich cultural heritage.
Conclusion:
The 6th National Scout Youth Forum was a testament to the vitality of scouting in Nigeria. The knowledge shared and connections forged during this gathering will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the scouting community.
Next Steps:
A comprehensive report, as per the Youth Forum guidelines, will be prepared and transmitted before the next National Youth Forum.
