A Legacy of Leadership and a Landmark Wood Badge II Achievement
We proudly celebrates a true icon of Scouting Scouter Emmanuel Olujonwo, whose journey of service, leadership, and passion has spanned more than five decades across multiple continents.
Today, we honor his remarkable dedication with the prestigious Wood Badge II recognition from Scouts Canada.
From humble beginnings as a Beaver Scout in Nigeria in 1970, Scouter Yomi’s story has been one of continuous growth and unwavering commitment. By 1976, he was already leading his troop as a Troop Leader to the first African Scouts Jamboree an early glimpse of the inspiring leader he would become.
His path took him around the globe, yet the flame of Scouting never dimmed. After returning to Nigeria in the 2000s, he took up key national roles, including Assistant Commissioner for Safe From Harm and Fundraising, and led the Nigerian Contingent to the 2023 World Scout Jamboree in Korea.
In 2022, following retirement from international service, he joined Scouts Canada, completed Wood Badge I, and fully re-immersed himself in leadership training. From local council engagements to international involvement through WOSM’s Volunteer Hub, and service at the 2024 Pacific Jamboree, his global impact is truly inspiring.
His Wood Badge II journey reflects advanced leadership development, grounded in action, mentorship, and youth empowerment all guided by the Scouts Canada Path and its four foundational elements.
Adding to this celebration, Scouter Olujonwo has also been awarded:
Scouts Canada Medal for Good Service, and
50 Years of Service to Scouting Recognition (February 22, 2025).
Please join us in celebrating Scouter Yomi Olujonwo a beacon of inspiration, a model of service, and a living embodiment of the Scouting spirit.
Bravo, Scouter Yomi! Your journey continues to shape lives and uplift generations.
