I stand before you today to talk about a topic that is close to my heart. A topic that is of great importance, not just to me, but to the entire world. “Messengers of Peace – Philippines” and the role of Eagle Cloyd Camporedondo.
The Messengers of Peace initiative, a flagship program of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, is a call to action. It inspires and shares the message of peace with more than 20 million Scouts and young people in over a million local communities in over 160 countries. The aim is to help “Create a Better World”. This initiative, conceived in 2010 and launched in 2011, has the support of His Majesty King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.
The Boy Scouts of the Philippines, where Eagle Cloyd Camporedondo is a part of, ranks first in the Asia-Pacific Region in terms of Network Membership and Service Hours. With over 3,000 members online and more than 500 million service hours, it is a testament to the commitment and dedication of our young scouts, like Eagle Camporedondo, towards the cause of peace.
The Messengers of Peace initiative caters to five areas of service – Training on Dialogue, Capacity Building, Peace Projects, Support to Children and Young People in “Hot Conflict” situations, and Globalizing the Messengers of Peace Network. The “Service Hours” of the initiative refers to the number of Scouts and Leaders doing voluntary service during service projects. These include but are not limited to community development projects, tree planting, coastal clean-up, earth hour, outreach and feeding programs, leadership activities, training courses, seminar-workshops, jamborees, moots, camps, dialogue, and youth forum among others.
Eagle Cloyd Camporedondo, like many other young scouts, is a beacon of hope in this initiative. They represent the future, a future that is peaceful and harmonious. Their work, their dedication, their commitment is what drives this initiative forward. They are the messengers of peace, carrying the message of harmony, unity, and tranquility to the world.
In conclusion, the Messengers of Peace – Philippines is more than just an initiative. It is a movement, a movement of young scouts like Eagle Cloyd Camporedondo, who are working tirelessly to create a better world. A world where peace is not just a concept, but a reality.
