The 2025 Baden-Powell Week Seminar, organized by Onibukun Local Association, Awori Province, Ogun State, The Scout Association of Nigeria, was a resounding success. The event brought together Scouts, leaders, and distinguished guest speakers to celebrate the legacy of Lord Baden-Powell while reinforcing the core values of Scouting, leadership, and community service. The seminar provided a platform for learning, engagement, and inspiration in alignment with the vision of Scouting’s founder.
ARRIVAL AND OPENING SESSION
The seminar commenced with the arrival of Scouts and dignitaries, followed by a formal opening ceremony. The session featured the recitation of the Scout Promise and the hoisting of the Scout flag.
The District Commissioner Scouter Elegbede Peter
Delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the continued relevance of Baden-Powell’s principles in today’s society. The keynote speech was delivered by Skipper Akinjisola Emmanuel, who eloquently discussed the role of Scouting in shaping responsible citizens and the importance of integrity and dedication in service.
LECTURES AND TRAINING SESSIONS
The seminar featured a series of insightful lectures and interactive training sessions led by esteemed Scout leaders and professionals. Key highlights included:
Leadership & Discipline in Scouting – Skipper Oke Pelumi highlighted the connection between discipline and leadership, both in Scouting and everyday life.
The Relevance of Baden-Powell’s Ideals ithe Modern World – Skipper Makinde Solomon (Captain MV Kola Adewale Vessel) provided practical insights into applying Scouting values in contemporary society.
Practical Scouting Skills & Demonstrations – Participants engaged in hands-on activities, including knot-tying, first aid, survival skills, and teamwork exercises.
Community Service & the Role of Scouts in Nation-Building – Adigun Stephen Aduragbemi (APC Communications & Information) passionately discussed the impact of Scouting in fostering positive community change.
Sex Education & Health Awareness – Scouter Ayoola Oladipupo led a crucial session on reproductive health, personal hygiene, and responsible decision-making, encouraging open and informative discussions.
Each session was well-received, with enthusiastic participation and engaging Q&A interactions, making the seminar an enriching experience for all attendees.
CYCLING EVENT & COMPETITION
One of the highlights of the seminar was the cycling event, promoting endurance, teamwork, and physical fitness. Participants competed in various categories, with awards presented to outstanding cyclists:

Best Female Cyclist: Kuti Mary
Youngest Participant: Emmanuel Nelson
Overall Best Candidate: Bolarinwa David
