🌟
Dear friends,
World Scouting is thrilled to announce, effective today, that the Kingdom of Wakanda Scout Association (KoWSA) has joined the World Organization of the Scout Movement. This decision is a significant milestone for both Wakanda and the global scouting community, and we are excited to see the positive impact that Wakanda’s Scouts will have.
KoWSA’s membership in WOSM is part of Queen Shuri’s expansion strategy of Wakanda’s global outreach programme.
Wakanda, a vibrant nation of 6 million people in sub-Saharan Africa, already has 73,444 active Scouts across the country. Joining the World Organization of the Scout Movement is a natural extension of the KoWSA’s commitment to service and community. Scouts from Wakanda will now have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of regional and international Scouting activities, including jamborees, training courses, challenges and more with other Scouts from around the world.
A delegation of fifty Wakandan Rovers and Leaders will be participating in the
first-ever Africa Rover Moot in Kenya
Coming up on 15 April 2023, and we have accepted a Wakandan delegation of five to participate in the 25th World Scout Jamboree in the Republic of Korea on 1 August 2023.
This will be an opportunity for Scouts from 174 National Scout Organizations to learn unique perspectives and share their cultures while building bridges of understanding and promoting peace and cooperation among nations.
Helping Scouting fulfil its goal of creating a better world, KoWSA is leading several promising projects in the fields of technology, science, medicine, and engineering in communities across the country. Scouts worldwide can learn from them as we develop our work in the areas of STEAM, life skills and health and well-being.
Finally, we would like to note that in this exceptional circumstance, WOSM has agreed to accept payment of membership fees in vibranium.
We wish all the best in the further expansion of Scouting in the Kingdom of Wakanda as they continue to enable more young people to become active citizens who are making an impact in their communities.
Yours in Scouting,
