Kenya Scout Association invested H.E. Hon. Cecily Mbarire M.G.H as Patron of the Embu County Scouts Held in Embu Scouts Centre.
On this Day 29th of March 2023, H.E. Hon. Cecily Mbarire M.G.H was invested into the Worldwide Fraternity of Scouting as the Patron of the Embu County Scouts in a colorful event that took place at Embu Scouts Centre.
In her remarks, the governor stated that her government will partner with Scouts in the County in various aspects of the Scouts programme including tree planting which will see Scouts planting a million trees annually.
“As a county and in collaboration with the Scouts we will plant and nature 5 million trees in the next five years”, stated the Governor adding that she will support the Movement in any way possible to make it stronger.
Speaking at the event the Deputy Governor H.E Kinyua Mugo lauded the Scout Movement in the country for moulding young people in the society through the instilling of positive values at a formative age of 6 years.
“These values of kindness, integrity and orderliness are grounded in the Scouts at an early age and they carry these to their old age making them ideal candidates for leadership and transformation of this nation” he said.
Mr. Pius Kosgey, County Director of Education (CDE) Embu County congratulated H.E on her inauguration to the patronage of Embu Scouts and assured the scouts fraternity in the county of his support and that of his office in ensuring the Scouts continue partaking of their programme in the various learning institutions in the county.
Her Excellency commissioned the Embu Scouts Tree planting initiative partnership with the county government by planting a tree at the Embu Scouts Centre. She urged other stake holders to join the initiative as this effort will collectively feed into the National Tree Growing and Restoration Campaign targeting to plant 15 billion trees by 2032
Through a partnership with the Rain Forest Alliance the Scouts movement in #kenya Kenya continues to receive tree seedlings to grow and nature country wide.#wosm
