Theme: ‘Sustainable Partnering For Youth Development’ at the LASEMA Relief/Resettlement Centre, LASU-Igando Road, on Friday, 27th to Sunday 29th, October, 2023.
The LASEMA Boss, while welcoming the Scouts to the Year 2023 Camp, stated that LASEMA’s collaboration with the Lagos State Scout Council is a testimony to its fluidity and ability to expand to suit existing situations, as the Agency has succeeded in grooming new foot soldiers ingrained with adequate safety precautions to sustain the high values of Disaster Risk Reduction, which will go a long way in making them further enlighten their individual communities on the need to imbibe all qualities and knowledge necessary for Disaster Risk Reduction.
The collaboration with Lagos State Scout Council , will afford the Agency the opportunity to add Emergency Management and Disaster Risk Reduction to the well established goals of Scouting.
Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu affirmed that the synergy with the State Council and the grooming of the young scouts is geared towards saving lives and alleviating sufferings of all in a manner that begins from ‘self’ with scouting and passion in emergency response with appropriate trainings.
In addition, the Lagos State Scout Commissioner, Alhaji Olohuntoyin Adebesin, while delivering his welcome address, explained that the Scout Movement is a valuable force for connecting young people across the world who will contribute to their various communities.
He thereafter calls on the youths to forge a new vision for Sustainable development and desist from acts inimical to their growth and progress, which could derail their future aspirations.
In recognition of an effective and efficient humanitarian services, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu was,
presented with an Award of Excellence by the Deputy Chief Commissioner, Scout Association of Nigeria, Prince James Oyelami.
