BSP TO INSTILL SCOUT VALUES AMONG POLICE OFFICERS.
The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) and the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) forged a partnership aimed at integrating Scouting values of character development, volunteerism, nationalism and patriotism to officers of the Philippine National Police.
In a memorandum of agreement signed on 28 October 2020 at the Police National College, Silang, Cavite, the BSP would provide basic training courses — normally conducted by the BSP for its would-be unit or adult leaders –aimed at inculcating Scouting values especially on character development to training participants. An initial batch of police officers undertook a BSP Basic Training Course for Leaders of Adults (BTC-LOA) on July 31 to August 2, 2020 at the National Police College which was participated by 78 police officers.
PPSC President Lt. Gen. Dr. Ricardo F. De Leon, Ph.D., underscored the importance of inculcating good moral values to public safety officers, which, he said, could pave the way for better service and in helping improve the public image of the police force among the public.
BSP National President Roberto M. Pagdanganan, for his part, expressed gratitude to the PPSC and the PNP for seeing “Scouting as a partner in fostering and promoting volunteerism towards the attainment of the aspiration of the PNP for a better country inhabited by law-abiding citizens”.
Signing on behalf of the BSP and the PPSC, respectively were BSP President Pagdanganan and PPSC President De Leon. The signing was witnessed by the Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Police General Camilo Pancratius P. Cascolan.
Also present at the ceremony are Police Brigadier General Ferdinando G. Sevilla (ret.), PPSC Vice President for Administration; Police Major General Atty. Cedrick G. Train (ret.), PPSC Vice President for Academics and Chief National Commissioner of the BSP; Police Colonel Romeo S. Magsalos (ret.), Director/Dean, National Police College; Gotz Heinicke, Resident Representative of Hanns Sidel Foundation; Syd Castillo, Director of Educational Methods, World Scout Bureau-Asia Pacific Regional Support Centre; Engr. Rogelio S. Villa, Jr., BSP Secretary General; Rodolfo C. Pangilinan, BSP Regional Scout Director for Southern Tagalog and Bicol Region; and Yasser F.
