STATEMENT ON THE BASIC TRAINING COURSE FOR SCOUT IN OGUN STATE SCOUT COUNCIL
In coming days, at the direction of the National Training Commissioner, we will be in Ogun State Scout Council to provide support to entry-level unit leaders within the frame work of the Basic Training Course for Scout section of the youth program organized by the State Training Team.
During the unveiling of the training, trainers will serve as agents to create appropriate conditions to start the modification process of increasing participants knowledge, practices and skills required to enrich the youth program and deliver an effective unit administration.
The overall purpose of the Basic Training Course is to develop unit leaders who are skilled in working effectively with young people and other adults in Scouting.
The BTC is the first phase in the unit leader training scheme . It is aimed at developing in the unit leaders :
An understanding of the background principles, structure and spirit of Scouting.
An understanding of the needs of young people within the specific environment in which the leader and young people will be working
An ability to use the Scout method and the skills of Scouting to meet the needs of young people adapted to various age ranges.
The Personal Management Skills to plan for , implement, administer and evaluate the sectional youth program that will contribute to the personal growth of young people.
With this, we will reinforce our continued support to our unit leaders working directly with the young people in delivering the Scouting youth program.
Participants at the Training will have access to post training support to help them set up their units or enhance existing unit by applying new skills to enrich their youth program.
Qualified participants are urged to take part in the leadership formation program.
