Scouting for a Better Nigeria, Founder’s Day Reflection

FOUNDER’S DAY MESSAGE

THE SCOUT ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA – FEBRUARY 22, 2025

Dear Scouts, Leaders, and Friends of Scouting,

On this special occasion of Founder’s Day, we join millions of Scouts around the world

in celebrating the life and legacy of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the

Scouting Movement. Today is more than just a remembrance; it is a call to reaffirm our

commitment to the principles of duty to God, service to others, and self-development.

As Nigerian Scouts, we take pride in being part of a global movement that instils

leadership, responsibility, and good citizenship in young people. Let us use this

opportunity to reflect on our Scouting journey and renew our dedication to building a

better Nigeria through service, unity, and integrity.

This year’s celebration is a reminder that Scouting is not just about adventure and

learning—it is about making a difference. Whether through community service,

environmental stewardship, or leadership roles, each Scout has the power to leave the

world a little better than we found it.

Let’s also use this period to commemorate the death of our esteemed Chief Scout

OLORI OMOBA (DR.) OLUSOGA SOFOLAHAN FSM, FCE, Ph.D, LT, DCC,

who dedicated his life to the service of young people and the development of Scouting in our

nation.

His leadership, commitment, and invaluable contributions to the Scouting

movement in Nigeria have left an indelible mark on generations of young people.

On this Founder’s Day, let us pledge to live by the Scout Promise and Law, uphold

the values of Scouting, and work together to create a brighter future for our

communities and nation.

Happy Founder’s Day!

Thank you for your time, consideration, and unwavering support for youth development

and nation-building.

Yours in Scouting,

Umar Muhammad

Chief Commissioner,

The Scout Association of Nigeria
