A Step Towards Reviving Scouting in Schools Lagos State Scout Council is Active!!!
Lagos State Scout Council Invest Mr Jamiu Tolani Alli Balogun, Honorable Commissioner for basic and secondary education as Executive member of Lagos State Scout Council.
In a significant move towards revitalizing the scouting movement in Lagos, the Lagos State Scout Council proudly invested Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli Balogun, the Honorable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, as an executive member. The investiture ceremony, held at the Education Resource Centre in Ojodu, also honored Abayomi Abolaji, the Permanent Secretary, with an executive position.
Mr. Alli-Balogun, who expressed his delight at the honor, underscored the importance of scouting in public schools. He announced the Lagos state government’s readiness to integrate the Scouts Movement into the public school system, stating, “Scouting provides students with immediate insights on safety within the school environment and the community.”
He further emphasized that introducing scouting in public schools would channel young people’s energy into meaningful and healthy activities. “It is significant to encourage scouting in our primary and secondary schools. The movement plays a positive role in the lives of our children,” he said.
In line with this vision, Mr. Alli-Balogun revealed plans to establish a committee involving the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to facilitate the return of Boy Scouts to schools. “We are going to have a committee in place, sit on the drawing board, and fine-tune how to bring Scouts Movement back to schools,” he added.

State Scout Commissioner Lagos State Scout Council, praised the newly invested executives as ambassadors of the scouting movement. He highlighted the role of scouting in preparing young minds for life’s challenges and promoting moral values. “With scouting, we can reduce unhealthy acts by engaging the youths. In scouting, we emphasize morals, societal behavior, self-defense, and helping neighbors,” SSC stated.
Scout was Founded in 1908 by Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the Scouts Movement aims to encourage the physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual development of young people. Its objective is to help them become responsible citizens and active members of their local, national, and international communities. Scouting Legacy in Nigeria!!!
