EDO STATE SCOUT COUNCIL PRESIDENT TAKES OATH OF OFFICE AND FORMALLY INVESTED.

On Tuesday 23rd FEBRUARY 2021 went into the annals of history of Scouting in Edo as another State Scout President,

Hon Justice Esther Amenaghawon Edigin,

The Chief Judge of Edo State was invested as the The President of the Edo State Scout Council in the just newly equipped Hall of the Edo State High Court Benin City.

The event was attended by Judges, staff of the judiciary, family, friends and well wishers of the Chief Judge and members of other Voluntary agencies – The Red Cross, The Civil Defence and Members of the Girls Guide led by their State Guide Commissioner.

The Ceremony was also witnessed by a handful of National Headquarter Commissioners and The National Scout Board.

Conducted the event in style and was assisted by the Deputy Chief Commissioner Prince James Oyelami (LT) And National Training Commissioner, Alhaja Dr Afusat Oyekunle Omolara, the Chairperson of The National Scout Board. ably represented by Hon Justice Emmanuel Dodo (Rtd) of Taraba State.

In his Speech, the Chief Commissioner Hon Dave Padopads-Awunah while welcoming invited guests thanked the Hon Chief Judge for her efforts and dedication to bring about lasting solution to issues bothering on misunderstanding of governance in Edo State Scout Council.

Wrote out invitation letters to select members of the National Officers and some select members from the Edo State Scout Council with a view to discussing and charting way forward to securing harmony and unity within the Scout Council.

Sadly this invitation was not honored by some Scouts in Edo for reasons unknown, according to the Chief Judge.

Further efforts at getting the other group to a round table discussion proved abortive.

A decision was reached by the National leadership to have the Chief Judge invested as State Scout Council President as prescribed by TSAN’s Constitution 2013 as amended so as to further empower her to finding lasting solutions to the protracted misunderstandings that has affected the State.

In her acceptance speech, Chief Judge and the President of Edo State Scout Council, Hon Justice Esther A. EDIGIN said that she was elated in accepting the singular honour and privilege to serve as The President of a State Scout Council of World’s most renowned children/youth based Organization and that she was doing so in cognizance of the Scout Promise that bind her

TO DO HER BEST IN HER DUTY TO GOD AND HER COUNTRY NIGERIA, AS WELL AS HELPING OTHER PEOPLE AT ALL TIMES WHILE OBEYING THE SCOUT LAWS.

She later pledged to zealously strive to promote, protect and propagate the ideals, duties and glorious purposes of Edo State Scout Council and Scouting in general.

In his Goodwill message a Senior Judge of the Edo High Court thanked the Scout Association of Nigeria for finding the Hon Chief Judge worthy to ascend to that position not minding that it is legitimate specifications of the Books of the Scout Association of Nigeria. He pledged that he and his colleagues will assist the Hon Chief Judge in seeing that Scouting in Edo takes back its place of pride in the comity of Scouting in Nigeria.

Speaking earlier, the Chairperson of the National Scout Board, Dr Gambo Ado Muhammed who was represented by Justice Emmanuel Dodo (Rtd) thank the Chief Judge for the honour done the Association by her acceptance to lead the Association in this moment of lawlessness by Scouts who should strive to obey laws at all times.

Deputy Chief Commissioner Prince James Oyelami reminded the Chief Judge that the task ahead may not be easy but that it would come to fruition with dedicated attention.

In attendance were Assistant Chief Commissioner South South Zone, Evangelist Stephen Etanoma, Assistant Chief Commissioner External Relations, Chief Agharase Idubor, former Deputy Chief Scout and now the Vice President of Imo State Scout Council Very Rev Fr Matthias Opara, the National Training Commissioner Alhaja Afusat Oyekunle Omolara, The National Public Relations Commissioner Dr Chukwujekwu Ibe, National Strategic Communication Commissioner, Chief Gasper Ibole, The National Treasurer Dr Scot Aigbovia the Chairperson of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo State, Comrade Davidson Obasuyi among others.

The Chief Commissioner further called on the new President to use her position to put pressure on the State Government to reinstate subventions to the State Scout Council as well as intensifying efforts to put the Ogba International Camp into useable form so that the Camp will be of massive help in the upbringing of the boy and girl in the State and Nigeria in general.
The event was graced by the Edo State Cultural Troupe

WHO performed to the admiration of all.
